Our Regenerative Farming Standard

Our Commitment to Promoting Sustainable and Resilient Farming Practices

At Two Little Farmers, we are dedicated to nurturing our planet through sustainable and environmentally friendly farming methods. Our Regenerative Farming Standard serves as the foundation of our mission, guiding the practices we implement on our farm and the principles we expect from our vendors. By following this standard, we aim to create a resilient, healthy, and vibrant food system that benefits our communities and the Earth.

The Two Little Farmers Regenerative Farming Standard:

1: Soil Health Management:

  • We minimize tillage to preserve soil structure and reduce erosion.
  • We plant cover crops to protect and nourish the soil.
  • We apply organic amendments like compost and manure to enhance soil fertility.
  • We use biological inoculants to support healthy soil biology.

2: Biodiversity and Ecosystems:

  • We implement diverse crop rotations for pest and disease management.
  • We plant polycultures and agroforestry systems to support biodiversity.
  • We create wildlife habitats to encourage ecological balance.
  • We utilize integrated pest management practices to minimize synthetic pesticide use.

3: Carbon Sequestration and Climate Resilience:

  • We optimize grazing management to promote soil carbon storage.
  • We incorporate perennial crops for carbon sequestration and erosion control.
  • We implement water conservation practices to improve water infiltration and retention.
  • We monitor and manage soil carbon levels for climate change mitigation.

4: Social and Economic Sustainability:

  • We prioritize fair labor practices and community support.
  • We encourage farmer-to-farmer knowledge sharing and capacity-building.
  • We promote supply chain transparency and regenerative product traceability.
  • We ensure the economic viability of regenerative practices for farmers and consumers.

5: Continuous Improvement and Adaptive Management:

  • We monitor and evaluate the outcomes of regenerative farming practices.
  • We adapt management practices based on new research and on-farm observations.
  • We foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and ongoing learning.

Our Commitment to Vendors and Sourcing:

At Two Little Farmers, we strive to work with vendors who share our vision for a sustainable and regenerative food system. We carefully select our partners based on their commitment to the principles of our Regenerative Farming Standard. While we understand that not every vendor can meet all aspects of the standard, we expect our partners to actively work towards implementing as many of these practices as possible.

In cases where we cannot source products that fully meet our Regenerative Farming Standard, we prioritise those produced using biological/ecological farming practices and make use of production leftovers. This approach helps us reduce waste and support environmentally responsible agriculture while still providing high-quality products to our customers.

By choosing to support Two Little Farmers and our vendors, you are helping to create a brighter future for our children, planet and our communities. Thank you for joining us in our commitment to sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
